Module4 blog

  • Questions you have with which your colleagues may be able to provide help and support
  • I would want to know if many people think that a PowerPoint is a good way to get present information or not. If this is not, what would they suggest?
  • Resources and information you are seeking  I need to know how much detail needs to be in the presentation and how long it should be. I want to make the presentation exciting and not boring by making it to simple or to over their heads but make it to where everyone can understand the information.
  • Resources and/or information you have found helpful and insightful I found the information from websites very useful as well as talks with teachers and parents. I like the honesty used and the sharing of  ideas presented.

  1. I am doing a PowerPoint for my presentation because I feel that is a better way to keep people focused. People are able to read and follow along as you present. I am also going to give everyone a copy of the PowerPoint. I will encourage them to write down any questions that they might have about my presentation on the PowerPoint. I my opinion a PowerPoint is the best way to present and if you feel comfortable doing it, then you should do it as well.

  2. I believe if you are comfortable with using a power point presentation, then use it. If you are not comfortable with making one, or using it, then I would not put yourself in that position. You want to be as confident as you can be.
I also think you can make an outline of all the main points you want to hit, and practice the presentation a few times to time it. I told my people I would need about 15 minutes of their time. I believe that is enough time to grab their attention, talk for a bit, and elicit feed back. If the conversation is going well, then it can go over that time, and that is a good sign!

  3. Hi Marcie,
I how did your presentation go? Did you decide to do a power point or handouts and discussion?
In any case I am sure it went well. Well the winter semester is coming to an end and i don't know about you but I am in great need of a break! I am sure you are as well, like many of our other colleagues.
I want to thank you for responding to my posts and sharing information about the family in your program. I hope they are able to get the help they need. I will continue to advocate for a heightened awareness about childhood obesity.
I wish you the best in your advocacy work with children and families and hope that you enjoy your spring break.
best wishes in all your future endeavors...Take Care!
